7th Annual Live Like Jake 5K Takes Off May 8 in Riverbend Park Marking National Drowning Prevention Month

Popular race raises funds for Infant Self-Rescue swim lessons and struggling families who have lost a child or have critical care needs

Live Like Jake, the local foundation created in the memory of Jake Roarke Morrison, will hold its signature event, the Live Like Jake 5K on May 8, starting at 7 am. Normally held in Abacoa, the race is taking place in beautiful Riverbend Park this year and includes public safety measures.A mainstay in the racing community, the fun-filled day raises funds to provide scholarships for Infant Self-Rescue (ISR) swim lessons, and for families who have either lost a child or who have critical care needs.

Those participating will receive a signature finishing medal, high-performance race shirt and custom swag bag. Safety measures include limited number of participants to maintain social distancing, sanitation stations and mask wearing before and immediately after the race.

Following the 2013 tragic drowning of their 2 year-old son, Keri Morrison and her husband Roarke created the Live Like Jake Foundation to raise awareness of childhood drowning prevention. Partnering with other drowning prevention agencies and instructors, supporting other families who have experienced the same loss, and connecting with their community, the Foundation has been able to provide thousands of ISR scholarships and recently opened northern Palm Beach County’s first indoor, heated pool dedicated to ISR.

Those wishing to participate in the 7th Annual Live Like Jake 5K can register online at www.livelikejake5k.com.
