Two Days, One Garden, and a Whole Lot of Summer: SummerFest! Is Almost Here
Saturday, August 29 and Sunday, August 30 at Mounts Botanical Garden

Ask a kid what makes a good day and the list is short: animals you can touch, water you can run through, something sweet, and permission to get messy. SummerFest! covers all four, twice, on Saturday, August 29 and Sunday, August 30 at Mounts Botanical Garden. Everything below is included with General Garden admission, so once you’re through the gate, the day is yours.
Meet the Animals
Our family-favorite petting zoo, presented by Prime Time Critters, returns with a lineup of friendly farm animals ready to be scratched behind the ears. It’s hands-on, it’s gentle, and it is reliably the hardest place in the Garden to pull a four-year-old away from.
Cool Off in the Splash Zone
August in South Florida is not subtle. The Splash Zone is our answer: sprinkler play, water ball toss games, and plenty of cool-down water fun for kids who’d rather be wet than dry. Pack a towel and a change of clothes, because you’ll want both.
Get Creative in the Creative Corner
Set up in the shade, the Creative Corner offers sidewalk chalk art and nature-inspired arts and crafts. It’s the ideal spot to park yourself for twenty minutes while everyone dries off and cools down.
Story Time with Children’s Author Veronica Green
11:00 am and 1:00 pm, both days
Author and nature-based educator Veronica Green is on a mission to raise the next generation of Earth Stewards. She’ll read her book The Earth Fairy, and afterward every child can make their own fairy wand to take home. Copies of the book will be available for purchase if you’d like to keep the story going at bedtime.
Plus: Face Painting, Music, Games, and More
Family-friendly music plays throughout the Garden, face painters are on hand, and there are games scattered across the grounds. Wander and see what you find.
The Food
Delicious treats and refreshing drinks are available for purchase, including:
- Ice cream and frozen treats
- Hot dogs, tacos, and empanadas
- Lemonade, coffee, and pastries
Saturday Evening: Live Concert on the Lawn
Flavio Amador & The Playtime Band, Saturday at 4:00 pm
Cap off day one with live music under the sky. Originally from Honduras, singer-songwriter Flavio Amador blends Latin rhythms like merengue and bachata with pop and urban influences, a sound built for a warm evening outdoors. He’s performed at major venues including the Calle Ocho Festival and Fiesta on Flagler, and has appeared on Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento and the Partnership Realty Music Show.
Seating is limited, so bring a blanket and claim your patch of lawn early.
